No presentation??? · Sun Mar 12, 04:22 AM
I had put in a lot of time working on presentation for work on Scrum in specific and agile development in general. I had 49 (!) slides, a slick patter to accompany, and a wealth of background info for expansion as necessary. I rehearsed my presentation, had it all loaded up on laptop, and was ready to cart it off to the office to present it, and…my tachycardia decided it was a good time to remind me why I was going to have surgery the next day. Heart rate sped up to ~190, and it wasn’t having any of that Valsalva maneuver nonsense. I was on calcium channel blockers at the time, too, which was supposed to prevent this sort of nonsense, but my heart had obviously kept its pimp hand strong. So I called into the office and let them know that the presentation was postponed until further notice, and headed off to the ER. Of course, my heart converted back to normal sinus rhythm about two minutes before arrival at the ER (apparently it maintained a healthy fear of adenosine), so I just got a nice bit of a lay-down and some oxygen while we made sure it was going to behave. My heart was still a bit stressed, manifested as a tendency to shoot up to ~115 when standing up, but other than that, it was behaving. So I went home and kicked back while I waited for the next day’s scheduled surgery. Feh.
